Contemporary dance is characterised by its versatility: contemporary can be danced to almost any style of music, or united with other dance forms to create new styles of movement.  It is interpretive and expressive and fast becoming the major pathway for professional employment.  It is often seen in So You Think You Can Dance as the emotive performances or strange and odd performances.  It is best supported by formal ballet training.

Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.
